Running a successful tanning salon means keeping your commercial sunbeds in perfect working order. One of the most important tools available to operators is the Ergoline error code system. These error codes quickly alert you to technical problems – from overheating to faulty sensors – and help you decide whether a simple reset will do the job or whether you need a professional engineer.
In this updated 2025 guide, we cover both legacy Ergoline models (using E-codes) and the latest Ergoline E IV units (Lightvision, Bluevision, Fusion and Vitality etc.) which now display a new #-code system. This makes the guide the most complete reference for UK salon owners.
In the UK, professional tanning salons follow strict safety standards, supported by The Sunbed Association, to ensure reliable and safe equipment operation
Ergoline Error Codes – Old (E-codes) and New Format (#-codes)
Legacy format (E-codes)
LegaThe legacy Ergoline error codes (E001–E204) are used in almost all Ergoline sunbeds manufactured from the Classic 600 (E I generation) through to the Prestige 1600 (E III+ generation).
This includes many of the most popular models still operating in UK tanning salons:
- Classic series (e.g. Classic 600)
- Evolution series
- Excellence series
- Avantgarde series
- Affinity series
- Passion and Inspiration series
- Sunrise (earlier generations)
- Prestige 990/1100 models up to Prestige 1600
These models display error messages in the format: E001, E010, E040, E041, and similar

New format (#-codes)
With the introduction of the E IV generation, Ergoline implemented a new error code system.
This applies to the latest premium models, including:
- Lightvision
- Bluevision
- Fusion
- Vitality
These sunbeds use error codes in the updated format: #0100, #0201, #0410, and others.
Many of the new codes directly correspond to older ones. For example, E010 (temperature limiter canopy) now appears as #0100 on the new devices.
Foreword
Starting with software package “20”, we have updated the error messages.
The benefits are:
- Reduced impact of error messages on studio operations.
- Fewer irritations for the user.
- More detailed information for customer service.
Error messages are categorised into different types of faults, which are shown as follows:
| Group | New Code | Meaning | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | #0100 | Temperature limiter (exhaust air) | Fault (Error) |
| 2 | #0211 | Lamp temperature > 70°C | Blind (hidden) |
| 3 | #0301 | Auxiliary controller | Warning |
| 4 | #0400 | Emergency shutdown time | Confirmation |
Group 1 → Faults
These messages interrupt a tanning session for as long as their condition is active.
They generate a neutral information screen and can be viewed via the info symbol in the top left corner of the display while they are active.
They are logged in the system history and shown on the service PC.
Current (active) faults can be read out via the “i” symbol on the display.
Group 2 → Blind Messages
These messages are stored and remain visible on the service PC for as long as they are active.
They are not displayed on the device itself.
Group 3 → Warning
Messages in this category do not interrupt a tanning session, however, they may deactivate certain comfort functions while they are active.
On the device, they are only shown as an information symbol in standby mode.
They are stored in the history and displayed on the service PC.
Group 4 → Confirmation
These messages correspond to the Error category.
However, once the condition has been resolved, they continue to be displayed as an information symbol until they are acknowledged.
A new tanning session can be started even without confirmation.
These messages are also stored in the history and displayed on the service PC.
